In 1541, King Henry VIII was concerned over the growing interest in sports other than Archery.
To ensure that England remained in the forefront of Archery, King Henry VIII enacted ”The Unlawful Games Act.”
The act prohibited certain games (such as tennis) that were “causing the decay of Archery” and required that all men under the age of 60 be proficient in Archery.
With little money and a desire to hunt, the 15 year old Ty McTier began crafting long bows using only a hatchet and a knife. After 15+ years he has perfected the lost art of bow making.
While hunting initially inspired his bow making, Ty also crafts kids bows and light weight bows for target shooting.
Our desire is to encourage current and future generations to enjoy the outdoors, and the sport of Archery.
Unlawful Games' traditional bows are hand crafted from a single piece of wood.
While holding close to historical design, every bow is unique in markings and color; making them truly a work of art.
We provide a variety of products to meet the needs of every archer from beginner to expert. Custom arrows and quiver also available for purchase.
